Specialist Conservation & Renovation

As specialists in historic properties and conservation, over the past 40 years we have developed a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of traditional building techniques and construction – so we know what is best for your building and can advise you accordingly.

We undertake a variety of projects but we particularly relish the challenge of awkward jobs and the vision of the end product. We take great pride in our team of craftsmen, with our primary work ethic of a good quality job delivered at a fair, sensible price at the forefront of our approach. We have previously carried out work on prestigious buildings such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace and many other historic buildings throughout Scotland.

Our key drivers are satisfied customers and our love of buildings, conservation and sustainability.

Common to all specialist conservation jobs is sensitivity to the building technique and materials. Understanding the historic significance of a property and knowing what’s permissible enables us to preserve the historic character of the building and combine it with modern functionality.

Restoration Project at Yesterkirk Parish Church, Gifford

This extensive historic project, completed in 2010 involved both exterior and interior works – including lime re-render, stone repair and replacement, re-roofing and roof lead repairs.

Interior windows, doors and floor were repaired or replaced and a biomass boiler and heating system was installed which also required basement tanking for storage of wood chip fuels for boiler.

Further Internal works included: non-structural partitioning to create new kitchen and toilets areas, slide fold partitions, balustrading, handrails and gates.

Floor strengthening was required to allow for relocation of church organ; and finally plastering and full redecoration completed the full restoration project.
